The annual Vehicle Reliability and Durability Testing Technology (VRDT) Forum is one of the ‘hottest’ venues in China when it comes to developing reliable, durable automotive vehicle technology. In October, ASC presented its innovative inertial sensor solutions to advance automotive testing and monitoring in partnership with the Chinese automotive industry.
The 2023 VRDT Forum from October 19-20th in Shanghai drew 400 automotive testing experts and decisionmakers from 140 enterprises. Across the two-day industry conference, they interacted with expert presenters on the latest product and technology innovation related to automotive testing and monitoring. Beyond the jam-packed conference room, another 100,000 participants followed the meeting live online.
A key update ASC provided at this year’s VRDT Forum focused on its MEMS based accelerometers ensuring precise, reliable, interference-free data collection with no signal loss. Their excellent temperature resistance and long-term stability allow for the reproducibility of results over long testing periods even under extreme or varying environmental conditions.
ASC’s uniaxial and triaxial gyroscopes are frequently used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Their excellent response behavior leads to minimal latency, which means they can process vehicle data and driving situations in real time. This speed helps produce accurate monitoring results and live feedback for the testing engineers.
ASC’s modular IMU concept offers hundreds of configuration options to support e-vehicle and component manufacturers in testing and optimizing their products. Flexible yet highly robust and accurate sensor solutions are essential for this, since electric vehicles differ materially from combustion engine operated ones; not least in their weight, center of gravity, acceleration and deceleration behaviors, all of which have a significant impact on driving dynamics and comfort.
Further in e-mobility, ASC sensors play a critical role in the safety testing of high-voltage batteries. As prior to a newly developed battery being installed, it must be certified to meet rigorous national and international standards, for instance in terms of shock and vibration resistance. To meet various countries’ standards paired with the complex needs of a diverse range of car and battery manufacturers and their suppliers, while precisely capturing all relevant technical parameters, sensors of broad operating range are required.
Resulting directly from the interest generated at this year’s VRDT Forum, ASC met with five Chinese passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturers and technology research institutes for in-depth follow-on discussions of specific sensor solutions in support of the needs of the respective businesses.
Reports Jason Ji, General Manager of ASC’s China office: “Our industry experts value high precision, high-quality and long-term stability ‘Made in Germany’.”
“At ASC we’re working hard to match our customized solutions with competitive pricing. So that more and more drivers, commercial and institutional clients may benefit from ASC’s proverbial German quality.”
