Piezoresistive accelerometers are based on proven MEMS technology, with four variable resistors configured as a Wheatstone bridge. Due to their compact design, these sensors are extremely small and lightweight.
In addition, this technology enables the measurement of dynamic and static (constant) accelerations across very wide measurement and frequency ranges. Therefore, it combines key requirements for on-vehicle, in-dummy (ATD, Anthropomorphic Test Devices) and pedestrian crash test applications in the automotive industry.
