Capacitive accelerometers

The core components in capacitive accelerometers are high-quality micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) that feature excellent long-term stability and reliability. This technology enables the measurement of static (DC) and constant accelerations, which can be used to calculate the velocity and displacement of moving objects. Depending on the design of the spring-mass-damping system, however, it is also possible to detect dynamic (AC) accelerations with a bandwidth of up to 7 kHz and amplitudes up to ±400 g. Other advantages of capacitive accelerometers are their outstanding temperature stability, excellent response behavior and achievable resolution, which in the ASC EQ series for example is less than 1 millionth of the gravitational acceleration (<1 µg).

In this category, ASC offers uniaxial, biaxial and triaxial accelerometers. They are used in many high-end test and measurement applications. From a compact and lightweight design, e.g. for structural analyses or applications with limited space, to the robust stainless steel version with protection class IP68, e.g. for measurements in harsh environmental conditions, you have an extensive portfolio to choose from.
