Whether surveying roads, tunnels, construction sites or mining environments, Mobile Mapping enables large areas to be captured quickly and efficiently while the measurement platform is in motion.
Mobile Mapping Systems typically combine technologies such as LiDAR, cameras, GNSS and inertial sensors to generate highly accurate 3D data. But what happens when satellite signals are weak or unavailable – for example inside tunnels, underground mines or between tall structures?
This is where high-performance Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) from ASC Sensors play a key role. By precisely measuring acceleration and angular rates, IMUs support continuous position and orientation determination and help bridge temporary GNSS interruptions. Reliable inertial data can therefore improve the quality and consistency of georeferenced measurements.
For civil engineering, mining and infrastructure applications, the benefits are significant: faster surveying, precise digital models, efficient documentation and a robust data foundation for planning, monitoring and maintenance.
As digital twins and data-driven infrastructure management advance, accurate Mobile Mapping becomes increasingly valuable.
