Measurement While Drilling (MWD)

Precision thousands of meters below the surface

Measurement While Drilling (MWD) demands exceptional precision under exceptionally harsh conditions. When multiple drilling operations take place simultaneously, accurate trajectory monitoring is essential to maintain the intended drilling path and prevent potential collisions.

But deep drilling means intense vibration, severe shocks and high temperatures – all of which can compromise measurement accuracy without the right sensor technology.

The ASC QF series of capacitive accelerometers combines shock resistance of up to 1,500 g with an extremely low noise level and resolution below 1 µg. This enables the detection of even minute deviations from the predetermined drilling path, for example when encountering unexpected geological obstacles.

For demanding deep-drilling and geothermal applications, ASC also offers JAE’s high-end quartz-based JA-5 and JA-25 accelerometers. Their robust design and technology support precision measurements where reliability under challenging downhole conditions is key.

From directional accuracy to dependable measurements deep underground, the right inertial sensors can make a decisive contribution to safer, more efficient and more precise drilling operations.
