RAIL TRANSPORT

Running characteristics of railway vehicles (EN 14363)

Reliable running starts with precise measurement

How does a railway vehicle really behave under real-world operating conditions? EN 14363 provides the framework for evaluating running characteristics – a critical step in ensuring the safety, stability and performance of rolling stock.

Accurate testing requires acceleration data from multiple locations, including the axle box, bogie frame and vehicle body. ASC provides a versatile portfolio of inertial sensors designed for exactly these demanding measurement tasks.

The ASC RAIL series combines high-precision measurement with exceptional robustness. Qualified according to EN 50155, the sensors withstand severe vibration, shock, temperature variations and electromagnetic interference – including the particularly demanding conditions of axle-mounted applications.

ASC OS-115LN-PG accelerometers add low-noise performance, measurement ranges up to ±400 g and a frequency response up to 2 kHz, making it highly suitable for capturing vehicle dynamics. The digital ASC DiSens ECO RAIL complements these solutions with intelligent onboard data acquisition and processing.

From vehicle development and homologation to long-term monitoring, the right sensor configuration turns complex running dynamics into actionable data.
