ASC 4421MF
Uniaxial, capacitive
Measurement range: ±2 to ±200 g
Noise density: 10 to 680 µg/√Hz
Frequency range (±5 %): DC to 2900 Hz
The dynamic interaction between pantograph and overhead contact line is critical for reliable current collection – and a key aspect of testing in accordance with EN 50317. But obtaining accurate contact-force and dynamic-response data at high speeds is far from simple.
Sensors operate just centimeters from the catenary, exposed to high voltage, electromagnetic interference, heat, rain, ice and intense vibration. This is exactly where the ASC 4421MF demonstrates its strengths.
The uniaxial, capacitive accelerometer combines a measurement range of ±2 g to ±200 g with a wide frequency response and shock resistance up to 6,000 g. Its ultra-flat, lightweight design minimizes its influence on the pantograph’s aerodynamic and dynamic behavior, while the robust IP67 aluminum housing supports reliable measurements in demanding environments.
In high-speed pantograph testing above 350 km/h, the ASC 4421MF is used to measure vertical acceleration, enabling inertia forces to be corrected when determining contact force.
