Detecting the smallest seismic vibrations can make a critical difference

For safety-critical infrastructure such as power plants, tunnels, bridges and dams, seismic monitoring is essential. Structures located in regions affected by tectonic activity, however frequent or strong, must be continuously monitored to identify potentially dangerous shocks as well as to assess the impact of micro-motion over time.

The challenge: seismic events can produce extremely small vibration amplitudes that require exceptionally sensitive and reliable measurement technology.

Capacitive accelerometers from the ASC EQ series are specifically designed for these demanding applications. With a resolution of less than 1 µg and compliance with the requirements of Motion Class B, they can precisely capture even very low-amplitude vibrations.

Reliable seismic recording enables engineers to evaluate structural responses, detect changes that could indicate earthquake-induced fatigue and support informed decisions about structural health, required inspections and maintenance. In an emergency, rapid detection can also contribute to timely alerts and the instant implementation of appropriate safety measures.
