
Heat pumps are central to energy-efficient heating. However, inside every outdoor unit, fans and compressors are constantly in motion. And where components rotate, vibrations can reveal valuable information about performance and condition.
Imbalances, aging and material fatigue can change vibration behavior, potentially affecting efficiency, output and reliable operation. Precise vibration measurement, therefore, plays an important role in heat pump development, testing and diagnostics.
Piezoelectric sensors from MMF – available through ASC Sensors – provide the sensitivity needed to capture even tiny changes in fans, compressors and other critical components. Lightweight IEPE accelerometers such as MMF’s triaxial KS973.10 and KS973.100 combine a frequency range of up to 10 kHz and temperature resistance up to +100 °C with a mass of lower than 15 grams – minimizing impact on the test structure while reliably capturing vibrations and shocks. Due to the protection class IP67 those sensors are ideally suited for demanding outdoor applications.
