Offshore wind: Catch the vibration before it becomes a failure

Wind turbines operate under constant mechanical and environmental loads. Gearboxes, rotor blades, bearings and generators all generate characteristic vibration patterns. Changes in those patterns can provide an early warning of emerging damage.

That makes continuous condition monitoring critical, particularly offshore where maintenance is complex and unplanned downtime can be extremely costly.

ASC’s industrial IEPE accelerometers are engineered for this demanding environment. The uniaxial ASC P311K-A15 with side connector and ASC P311K-A25 with top connector provide flexible installation options. While the triaxial ASC P313P-A15 captures vibrations simultaneously in three directions.

Compact and exceptionally robust, these sensors combine high sensitivity, low noise and a wide frequency response – enabling precise monitoring of components such as gearboxes, rotor and generator bearings and rotor blades. Their robust stainless-steel housing and high shock resistance make them ideally suited to challenging long-term monitoring applications.
