Precision takes flight: inertial sensors for flight testing

Every successful flight test depends on one thing: data engineers can trust.

From development flight tests to maintenance and verification flights, precise measurement of acceleration, angular rates and aircraft motion helps engineers evaluate performance, identify anomalies and validate systems under real operating conditions. At the same time, measurement equipment needs to withstand demanding environmental conditions – without adding unnecessary weight.

The compact ASC IMU 7 is designed with exactly these requirements in mind. Positioned at different locations across an aircraft, multiple IMUs can capture local inertial variables with defined temporal resolution.

Its modular concept provides flexibility for different test scenarios: Engineers can select Low Noise (LN) or Medium Frequency (MF) acceleration configurations from ±2 g to ±50 g, combined with angular rate ranges from ±75 °/s to ±900 °/s.

For applications requiring highly sensitive measurement of low-frequency vibrations, ASC EQ series accelerometers further extend ASC’s aviation measurement portfolio.
